Review| “Vibrations: The Senses of Matter” Online ExhibitionTime:2026-04-03

The online design exhibition "Vibrations: The Senses of Matter" by Migliore+Servetto Studio, jointly organized by DoBe Italy, the Sino Italian Design Exchange Center, Cross-Cultural Communication and Development Association (CCCDA) and Migliore+Servetto, supported by the Municipality of Florence and the Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design, will be launched at 12:00 PM Italian time on April 3, 2026.

Thanks to continuous and in-depth research into materials, Migliore+Servetto has designed and produced various collections and unique pieces over the years. Experimenting with i-Mesh yarn, the Studio created a series of tapestries that interact with light and shadow, exhibited in numerous exhibitions in South Korea, Japan and Italy. In addition, since 2023, M+S has been the creative director of the NEUTRA company, for which they develops identity and branding and also design different products, such as furniture and lighting that have been presented at the Milan Design Week.

i-MESH tapestries

Inspired by the concept of transparency, the tapestries designed for i-Mesh are shaped by the light and the relationship it constructs with the surrounding scenery through the graphic language of textures. They are open, extremely permeable forms that are designed to be passed through and to interact with the void, where perception changes according to the alterations in the light and the background.

FURNITURE AND LIGHTING DESIGNED FOR NEUTRA

Born from the heart of matter, where stone harmoniously meets metal and glass, Migliore + Servetto‘s new creations for NEUTRA emerge. Continuously dialoguing with light and space, pieces that challenge gravity and the static nature of marble, shaping into dynamically light forms. With the alternative use of solids and voids, the creations reveal the depth and richness of the raw material in a game of perceptive stratification. Redefining spaces with their sophisticated essence, the two lamps, sideboard and bookcase are transformed into sculptural compositions.

 Founder

Ico Migliore - Professor at the Politecnico di Milano

Mara Servetto - Visiting Professor at Joshibi University in Tokyo

Migliore+Servetto, founded in 1997 by Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto, is an international design studio based in Milan that has carried out over 1000 projects in 22 different countries, obtaining prestigious international awards, including 13 Red Dot Design Awards (Germany), 2 German Design Awards (Germany) and 3 Compasso d'Oro ADI awards.

Migliore+Servetto boasts undisputed expertise in the design of narrative spaces – whether they may be within public areas, museums, exhibitions, installations, projects for retail, hospitality or entertainment – and are engaged at every level, from architecture to interior design, to graphics and multimedia.

Over 150 companies and institutions have entrusted the Studio over the years, including global luxury, technology, design, automotive, and publishing firms, such as Mondadori, Intesa Sanpaolo, Generali Group, The New York Times, Wallpaper*, Max Mara, Tod's, Giorgio Armani, Adidas, Alcantara, Samsung, and B&B Italia.

Interventions for world's leading international cultural destinations bear the signature of Migliore+Servetto, such as the Egyptian Museum in Turin; the Natural History Museum of Milan; the Miramare Historical Museum and Castle Park in Trieste; the Chopin Museum in Warsaw; the ADI Design Museum in Milan; the Schengen Museum in Luxembourg.

Their scope of action encompasses the care of graphics, from the logo to the environmental

dimension, both in defining a brand's visual identity and at the urban level through the design of wayfinding systems. Among their most significant projects are: the Egyptian Museum of Turin (including the logo, visual identity, and orientation system design); the MIND-Milano Innovation District (art direction and design of the wayfinding system), transforming the former Expo 2015 area into a district with a strong environmental focus; and the Milan Certosa District project, where the urban graphics were conceived to reinforce the neighborhood's identity by emphasizing concepts of participation, multi-sensoriality, and accessibility. Recently the Studio has signed the interiors of the new headquarters of The Human Safety Net, the social foundation of the Generali Group, inside the Procuratie Vecchie in Piazza San Marco in Venice, and the new Electa bookshops inside the Colosseum in Rome, and in Venice, within the Biennale premises.

Active in Asia for over twenty years now, the Studio is currently engaged in a design and architecture project for the new building of the Joshibi University of Art and Design in Tokyo, which will be a new cultural hub between the university and the city, open to the public. Serving as a place for exchange, culture and identity, it will also feature a library, an auditorium, a café and spaces for temporary exhibition and artist residences.

Research and teaching activities, conducted at an international level, are a fundamental component of the Studio's work. Ico Migliore is Professor at the Politecnico di Milano, Chair Professor at Dongseo University in Busan (South Korea) and member of the Scientific Committee of the Franco Albini Foundation; while Mara Servetto is Visiting Professor at Joshibi University in Tokyo since 2009.
