On March 3, Florence Mayor Sara Funaro met with the delegation led by Zhou Hongbo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, at City Hall and extended a warm welcome. Corrado Galli, CEO of the Sino-Italian Design Exchange Center, accompanied the visit.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in discussions on deepening the sister-city relationship, enhancing cultural exchanges, and strengthening economic and trade cooperation. They also exchanged views on leveraging digital technology to empower traditional culture and promoting youth exchanges. Zhou Hongbo emphasized the strong similarities and complementarities between Nanjing and Florence in the fields of culture, arts, and creative economy. He expressed confidence that both cities are well-positioned to play a key role in fostering mutual appreciation between Chinese and Italian civilizations and revitalizing cultural dynamism. This aligns with the vision set by the two heads of state to establish cultural heritage cooperation as a new highlight of Sino-Italian cultural exchanges.
